Lake Mavrobara

Three kilometres west of Polychrono in a large forest area full of pine trees, Lake Mavrobara is placed. A lake that is of particular ecological interest.

Two rare species of European sea turtle (Emys orbicularis and Mauremys caspica), which are in danger of extinction, have found refuge in Lake Mavrobara. Their natural enemies are various carnivores and birds. This species of turtle can live up to 50 years.
